Weldon Bassett Obituary

Weldon Jay Bassett was born on March 14, 1943 and returned to his Heavenly Father on April 26, 2021.  He was born in Osmond, Wyoming to Ammon and Lucile Bassett.  He was the eighth of twelve children.  He stopped attending Star Valley High School to join the United States Navy where he served as a Seabee.  He served his country from 1960 to 1964.  He graduated from Star Valley High School after returning from service.

 Through a blind date, he met his wife Judy Beth Glenn. They were married in 1968 and lived happily together for fifty-two years.  They had five children: Milo, Erica, Shawn, Kimberly, and Tara  

 An avid hunter, Weldon shared his passion by working as a hunting guide and teaching hunter’s safety.  He loved outdoor activities but also enjoyed bowling, golf, and pool.  He loved to make others smile and would often be found teasing or joking with anyone around him.  

Weldon was a proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a firm belief in the gospel and in his Savior.    

 He is survived by his wife, Judy Glenn Bassett, daughters Kimberly Bassett-Bowen (Brandon) of Arkansas, Tara Bassett-Wheeler (Korry) of Smoot, sons Milo Bassett of Afton, and Shawn Bassett of Colorado.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren.  Jesse Bassett, Meghan and Blake Bowen, Kennadee, Eli, and Grahm Wheeler, Dawn Eaglestar, and Aedensis Bassett.  

He is also survived by his siblings; Nevin, Melvin, Ronald, Nellie, and Mary Jean.  

Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, eldest daughter Erica Jean, and six of his siblings.

He was laid to rest on May 1st in the Afton, Wyoming cemetery.
