JoAnn Westwood Johnson

JoAnn Westwood Johnson passed away on April 23, 2023 at the age of 84. It is with heartfelt pleasure to share a tribute to her life capturing her essence and personality. It begins with acknowledging her passing after a courageous battle with cancer and expressing the sadness felt by her family. 

JoAnn was born on April 2, 1939 to William Hayward Westwood and Ruth Elizabeth Newman Westwood. Her father passed away when she was 2 years old and she was raised by her single mother along with her 5 older siblings. Joann graduated from East High School and attended Westminster college. JoAnn married Gale Levi Johnson on October 25, 1958.  They together had 3 children, Ruth Ann, Carol Ann, and Paul. Prior to this union, was added 6 sons from Gales’ previous marriage.

JoAnn had many types of employment during her life.  She worked at Howlett’s Eggs, Star Valley Cheese Factory, Dr. Perks office along with she and Gale owning Flat Creek R.V. Cabins and Trading Post in Thayne. Her favorite job was working at the golf course.  Golf was her life’s passion along with her lifelong love for the Savior. She showed this love with her kind and caring compassion for others and her selfless acts of service to them.  Most of all she loved being surrounded by family her great friends.

She is survived by her three children Ruth Ann Johnson (Stacy Harris), Carol Ann Putnam (Nordell Putnam) and Paul Johnson (Connie Burton Johnson) and her sister Carol Angle (Arnie). Along with 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

JoAnn wanted to live to 105 as her mother did but was called home sooner to join her husband, parents, her brothers Dale, Ralph, Richard and sister Lucille.

We would like to thank her many great friends and Hospice for their love and caring for her during her final days.
