Eugene Richard Mack

Eugene Richard Mack was born on Dec 24,1932 in Syracuse , N.Y. to Frances and Stanley Mack. He left this world on Dec. 9th, 2020 in Afton, Wyoming at home, surrounded by his family.

He was the oldest of 6 children, Danny, Larry, Marg, Ron (Joan), Dolores (deceased)

He graduated at 16 from Solvay High School and went to college for Metallurgy. He entered the Army and was sent to Washington D.C. where he was a Presidential 

Honor Guard, "The Old Guard", for President Eisenhower. During this time he married the love of his life Martha J. Dack. They married on April 24, 1954 in Baldwinsville N.Y.  They spent their honeymoon in Washington D.C. where he was stationed. After leaving the Army, he went into law enforcement and became a N. Y. State Trooper, Troop T. Where they named him "The Buffalo ". To this union they raised 4 children: Michael (Betsy (deceased)), Linda (Pat (deceased), Kelly (Brad), Danny (Heidi). He retired after 20 yrs. and moved to Wyoming in 1978, where he was an Afton Police Officer for 5 yrs.  Gene loved hunting, fishing. camping, gardening and the mountains, He always stayed in touch with his buddies back in N.Y. and they would come out West to hunt and visit with him. His nieces were like daughters to him and he was a big part of their lives growing up. He made many good friends throughout his life and treasured each of them.  He leaves behind 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 21great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by: His parents, his wife Martha, their son Daniel Patrick, brother Daniel, sister-in -laws Ann and Marge, brother-in -law Hank. Mother-in-law Isabelle H. Dack. sister-in-laws Patricia and Shirley. Memorial Service will be held. January 8th.at Schwab's Mortuary in Afton. Visiting hours 2 pm, service 3 pm, with military honors to follow.
