Allison Lauree Weiss, age 47, daughter of David Mark Weiss and Cynthia Lee Owen Weiss, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21st in Turnerville, Wyoming after a 16 month bout with colon cancer.
Allison was born in Provo, Utah, but at a young age her family moved to Redmond, Washington, where they raised their family of eleven children. An avid student, Allison earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education along with a minor in Latin American Studies (University of Puget Sound), a Master’s degree in Music (University of Portland), and a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies (University of Chicago). She specialized in the classical art song written by Argentine composers.
During her college years, Allison served a full-time proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She remained an active member of the Church throughout her life, serving as pianist, organist, and music leader for various family and single adult congregations.
During her career, Allison worked for Episcopalian, Catholic, and Methodist non-profit organizations, two educational institutions (K12 and Higher Education), four technology companies, and held several administrative jobs throughout her life, beginning at the age of fourteen.
She enjoyed reading, travel, languages, and connecting with God in nature. As she pondered what mattered most to her toward the end of her life, she returned again and again to good food, clean water, healthy living, outdoor experiences, music, the arts, loving relationships, the temple, and leaving a legacy for her nieces and nephews.
Allison is survived by her siblings: brother David Mikael Weiss and sister-in-law Launna Weiss, sister Tamarah Lynn Bartmess and brother-in-law Jeffrey Bartmess, sister Christine Danae Weiss, sister Jennifer Michelle Weiss and brother-in-law Isaiah McPeak, sister Deborah Marie Weiss, brother Jonathan Jacob Weiss, brother Samuel Chase Weiss and sister-in-law Ashley Weiss, brother Benjamin Isaac Weiss, Lisa Weiss, brother William Owen Weiss, and brother Joseph Mark Weiss and sister-in-law Camberlee Carr.
