Stanford A Fluckiger's Obituary



Stanford A Fluckiger passed away May 6, 2013 at his home in Bedford. His family was by his side. He was born Feb. 21, 1937 to Jacob Henry Fluckiger and Leonora Clara Schmidt in Afton. His father passed away when Stanford was five years old. He was raised by his mother and had one brother, LaMont, who was six years older. Stanford spent his childhood in Bedford. He graduated from Star Valley High School and attended Ricks College in Rexburg. He also attended Utah State University, where he graduated. Stanford married Vernette Hyde on Sept. 17, 1956 in the Logan LDS?Temple. Stanford loved serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many different callings, including Bishop of the Bedford Ward. He and his wife served in the Oklahoma Tulsa Mission and the Georgia Atlanta Mission. They also served in a stake calling as temple workers in the Idaho Falls Temple for 19 years. At the time of his death, Stanford and his wife were LDS?Family Service missionaries in the Addiction Recovery Program. Stanford was a great example of service and showing love and kindness to everyone. His family was important to him and he was proud of their accomplishments. Stanford was employed as a computer programmer with Maverik Country Stores for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his wife, Vernette; and his children, Michael, Laurie Cates, Jodie McCool, Jeryl, and Heidi Shumway. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 11, with interment in the Bedford Cemetery.
