Sally Bruce passed away peacefully in her home among loved ones, the night of Jan. 6, 2013. Sally was born Sept. 7, 1948 in Afton to parents Lorraine Heap and Walter Barber of Freedom, Idaho. Sally was raised in Jacknife, Idaho later moving to Alpine Wyoming after the death of her beloved father. She graduated from Star Valley High School where she was voted as having the Best Personality her junior and senior years. Shortly after graduating she married Ed Bruce of Smoot in the Idaho Falls LDS?Temple on Aug. 30, 1967. Sally grew up riding horses, playing in the mountains and streams surrounding her home and being her dad's side kick. She mentioned many times the occasion that her father gave her a pocket knife as a gift. She would reminisce of leading her horse to the fence so she could climb aboard and ride bareback often not returning until dark. Sally's life was turned upside down in the spring of 1961 when she discovered her father had been killed in a farming accident. Sally was known among her friends as being expressive, quick witted and opinionated. She was known among her family as being courageous, long suffering, selfless, loving and she always rooted for the underdog. She encouraged her children to be kind, honest, protective and humble and to have an appreciation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Sally fought hard against the auto-immune diseases which finally won as she struggled to eat and breathe during the last months and years of her life. She is preceded in death by her father, mother and younger brother (Joel Barber). She is survived by her husband (Ed Bruce), older sister Marsha (Rex) Wolfley, Jan (Mike) Anderson, her children and grandchildren; Nicole, Doug and Shauntell Smith, Matthew, Andra, Baylee, Aiden and Chloe Bruce, Marshall Bruce, Kamarie, Karl, Mitchell, Harrison, Andrew, Lincoln and Channing Hearne and Natalie, Drue, Alison and Diesel Dance.
