Rex Kay Radford's Obituary

Rex Kay Radford, 76, of Etna, passed away on April 4, 2013, with loved ones by his side. He was born on Dec.15, 1936 in Ucon, Idaho to Franklin King and Elzina Pearl Radford. Rex was married to Linda Cherry Parkinson for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS?Temple on May 28, 1958. Together they grew their family by four with Steven Kyle, Tony Jay, Krista Lynn, and Rebecka Lee. Rex had the remarkable ability of making all who knew him a part of his family and creating a place for his loved ones to gather. Family was everything to Rex. All he thought about and did in his life was to provide and create a legacy for his posterity. Rex's family was his life, but his work was his passion. He spent his career managing large scale construction projects such as the Little Goose Lock and Dam, the Eisenhower Tunnel, Montreal Olympic Stadium, and the Cooper, Trojan and Rancho Seco Nuclear Stations. Through his company, Project Analysts, he provided litigation support and claim preparation for projects such as John Wayne International Airport and the Las Vegas Regional Justice Complex. He also designed and built Thayne's Main Business Center, and designed and oversaw the renovation of the Thayne Volunteer Fire Department Firehouse. Rex was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many different callings over the years. He was thrilled and looking forward to seeing a temple come to Star Valley. His testimony was unwavering and his determination was steadfast. His friendships and loyalty are timeless. His ingenuity was unmatched and tasks that others wrote off as impossible, he would delight in creating a way and accomplishing. He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife, Linda; son, Steven; parents, Frank, Pearl, and Roy; brothers, Dean, Lyal, Jay, Dorsel, and Vee; sister, Pearl; and his loyal best friend Abram (his German Shepherd). He is survived by his children, Tony Radford, Boston, Mass.; Krista Carn and Rebecka (Jonathan) Franklin, Etna; his grandchildren, Mitchell, JonaLee, Xayne, and Layk Franklin, Marc, Doug, Amber, Andy, Jeff, Jayson and Tayden Carn, and Brittani Turley, seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald and Keith; and sister, Vonda. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Monument Ward LDS Meetinghouse, 10854 N. 41 E., Ucon, Idaho. The family will receive friends Friday, April 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, Idaho and 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Ucon Idaho Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the LDS Humanitarian Efforts, LDS Charities, 15 E. South Temple, 2nd Floor East, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84150.
