Maureen
Richins
October 20, 1929 – December 12, 2024
She hated the name ERMA so she was always called Maureen. She was born October 20,
1929 in Brigham City Utah, the daughter of Victor S. Nelson and Mary Irma Bradshaw. She
was a child of the depression and her family was poor, but had a wonderful life with 2 brothers
and 1sister.They all proceeded her in death. she was the final survivor of her immediate family.
Maureen was very close with her father, they shared many good times together in the
vegetable garden and the fruit trees that they had in their back yard. Though things were not
easy they valued the love of family most. She was a Dodgeo dancer in High School a rare and
interesting sport! She was small so was able to be thrown around by strong young men in a
dance. She graduated from Brigham City High School, She was also crowned Peach Queen of
Brigham City Utah! After graduation she went to Weber State College From which she
graduated with a degree in Cosmetology. While at Weber State she met Boys W. Richins who
was going to college in diesel Mechanics. They fell in love and were married in Brigham City
Utah on July 15 1949. They had a wonderful marriage , totally committed to each other, they
were partners in life completely. Two sons were born to them, Daniel Boyd and Michael Robert.
Horses and Camping and hunting were very important parts of their partnership. Later 3 girls,
Lona, Beth, Karen ,came to live with them also. Friends of her children were also considered
children. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her precious diamonds.Both she and
Boyd loved them so much and always wanted them close. She and Boyd became active in the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served the church as a teacher, Relief Society
President and Stake Relief Society President. Her home was always Welcoming and open.
She died December 12, 2024 at her home. the Funeral will be held at the Grover Ward,
December 18 2024 at 12 PM. with a meeting of family prior. Burial will be in the Grover
Wyoming Cemetery beside her Husband Boyd.
