Margery Balls of Fairview passed away June 21, 2017 in Rigby, Idaho. Margery was born May 22, 1936 to Ardell James and Luella Barrus Balls in Fairview. She was the fourth of seven children, her siblings were Dee, Martha (Clines), Dennis, Merril, Mack and Jerry . She grew up on the family farm on Bittercreek Road. While living on the farm she had a great love for animals and being outside. She would often say that she had the best childhood. She attended Star Valley High School where she met and later married Larry Toland in October of 1953. Five children would be born from this union: Scott, Lori, Kim and twins Gene and Jan. They later divorced. The only time Marge did not live in Star Valley was when her children were young. They lived in Ogden, Utah. When her children were in school Marge went back to school and attended Weber State University majoring in education. Marge held many jobs throughout her life including a cook at the Bar BC Ranch in Jackson, a dispatcher for the Ogden Police Department and at the Bank of Star Valley. She also worked at Maverick, Star Studds, Village Furniture, Lower Valley Power and Light, Star Valley State Bank and First Security Bank. Marge had a great love for the outdoors. She was an avid cross country skier and hiker. She loved the Tetons and spent much time climbing their peaks or hiking their canyons. She climbed all of the Tetons except Mount Moran. She also loved hiking different trails around Greys River. Marge had a green thumb and a real love for growing things. She had the prettiest flowerbeds in Star Valley. She loved sharing this gift with others. It was not unusual to see Marge with a bouquet for someone she was headed out to visit. Marge loved people and had many friends. She was kind and thought of others before herself. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed. Marge had five children: Scott (Kathryn) Toland of Altamont, UT; Lori (Scott) Daku of Rigby, ID; Kim (Terri) Toland of Petersburg, AK. She had six grandchildren: Alexus (Barlow) Hardy of Wenachee ,WA; Heather (Michael) Mattson of Smoot, WY; Kristin (Raymond) Marques of Boise, ID; Haylee Toland of Altamont UT; Trent Toland of Petersburg AK and Bridger Toland of Petersburg AK. She had five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Scott, infant twins Gene and Jan, great-granddaughter Quinn, parents Ardell James and Luella Barrus Balls, and brothers Dee, Dennis, Merrill and Jerry Balls. Services were held Monday, June 25, 2017 at the Cottonwood Ward Osmond Church. Burial was at the Fairview Cemetery.
