Laura
Tolman
March 2, 1933 – May 1, 2025
On March 2, 1933, Laura Taylor Tolman was born to LaVivian Jensen Taylor and Albert Taylor
in Afton, Wyoming, bringing light and joy to a family healing from recent loss. Her vibrant spirit
enriched the lives of all who knew her.
She spent her childhood roaming the pastures and dirt roads of Grover, Wyoming, with her
siblings, Joy, Naomi, and Nolan. At just 11 years old,she lost her father and, as the oldest
sibling, stepped into a role of strength and responsibility, helping to care for her brother and
sisters.
In time, Laura met the love of her life, Dallas Duane Tolman. They were married on August 10,
1948, in the Logan, Utah temple. They started their life together living and working on the Crow
Creek Ranch, later moving to their home on Spring Creek, where they raised seven children.
Dallas and Laura taught them the value of hard work, the blessings of service, and the joy of
life's simple pleasures.
Laura faithfully served in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints,
including Stake Relief Society Board, Fairview Relief Society President, and other various
positions in the Primary and Young Women organizations. She played a major role with the
design and placement of the welcoming monument on the Fairview corner, an enduring
symbol of her dedication to her community.
Since she married early, she didn't have the opportunity to complete her high school courses
with her class. Laura was always pleased that she earned her GED diploma. She had a great
love of education and learning, and loved reading, especially historical fiction.
After many years of hard work on the family ranch and dairy, Laura accepted a position at
Hasting's Gift Shop in Afton. She enjoyed working there for 30 years and retired at the age of
80. She spent her remaining years beautifying her home and surroundings, which brought her
great pleasure.
Laura passed away in Fairview at the age of 92 on May 1, 2025, and is survived by her children:
Ron Tolman (Sue), Diane Sanderson (Robert), Craig Tolman (Cathy), Kelly Tolman (Geniell),
Valerie Jensen (Nolan), Teri Toland (Kim), and Irene Moser (Dave), as well as 22 grandchildren,
79 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Dallas Duane, her four siblings, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Fairview Ward Building of The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, south of Afton. The family will meet with friends
from 9:30-10:45 AM, with the celebration of Laura's life at 11 AM. Laura will be laid to rest
afterward at the Fairview Cemetery.
