Keith Otis Eggleston returned home to his loving Heavenly Father Friday, December 19 exactly one week before his 75th birthday. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Keith's passing was sudden and unexpected. Keith was born Dec. 26, 1939 in Grover, Wyoming to Otis Hyde and Tressie Edwards Eggleston. He was the third child. He grew up in Star Valley, where he learned to work hard and care for other people. He was the first to lend a hand to someone in need. He loved growing up in Star Valley.
Upon graduation from Star Valley High School, he headed off to Ricks College to begin his higher education, after two years there he took time off to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days in the Central Atlantic States. When he returned home he headed off to Utah State University to continue his engineering degree. While in college he met the love of his life, Lorna Anderson. They married, August 23, 1963 in the Logan LDS Temple. They had 50+ years together.
Keith graduated with a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Master's Degree and a PhD in Water Resource and Hydrology. Keith spent most of his professional life consulting or working for the Bureau of Reclamation. He loved what we did. He worked at Washington State, Charleston West Virginia, but most of his career was spent in Denver Colorado. Many a family vacation was spent with him being the doctor of water.
Keith was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many different callings from primary teacher to scout leader and several Bishoprics. He loved most working with the youth. He has left a lasting legacy of his example, service and love.
Upon retirement, he returned to beautiful Star Valley. He enjoyed the outdoors and would hunt, fish or golf, if the weather allowed. He loved it when his wife, children & grandchildren would join him in his activities.
Keith is survived by his wife, Lorna, his children, Sue (Todd) Sullivan, Laura (Craig) Peterson, Julie Holiday, Karen (Robert) Larson and David (Becca) Eggleston, 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, siblings Ann (Louis) Johnson, Carl (Londy) Eggleston, Jenny (Rocky) Thomas, Verdean (Kathy) Eggleston, Elaine Tanner, and ElRay (Roselie) Eggleston. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Vendon, and his sister Judy.
Funeral service under the direction of Schwab Mortuary, please fill in the viewing details and funeral arrangement. Interment in the Millville Utah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to your church mission fund. Condolences can be sent to the family through ???
Viewing Friday Night at Schwab Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30 December 26, 2014, Afton, Wyoming. Funeral service will be held at a LDS Chapel in Nibley, Utah: 360 West 3200 South, Nibley, Utah. Viewing at l0:30 to ll:45 a.m. at the church prior to service at 12:00 p.m. Internment in the Millville, Utah Cemetery.
