Jeffery Lee Furlong was called home Jan. 31, 2013. He was born on Oct. 17, 1958 in Dubuque, Iowa to Eugene Francis Furlong and Sharee Date Cole. He served in the Army Reserves from 1979 to 1983. Upon completion of services, he married his soulmate and best friend, Debra Lynn Steele on Oct. 1, 1983. Jeff was very passionate about his family and enjoyed collecting many different things. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, even if it was just sitting on the front porch with his two partners in crime, Barney and Buddy. Jeff had a huge heart. Family always came first. He truly was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. There will be a great void in our lives. He was the rock that held our family together. He left behind his wife of 30 years, Debra; his daughter (Veronica, Chris) Debbie, Charity and Christian; his son, (Jason) Jayden, Jayson and Sharee; his great granddaughter, Vanessa, whom was his pride and joy; his sister, Lori Kielkowski; Aunt Debbie, Pete Star and many more aunts and uncles that were very special to Jeff. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lorraine Steele. He was more of a father than an uncle to his nieces and nephews, (Lisa, Jason) Angel and Tysen (Amy, Fred) Thomas Jr. and Makaela (Kirk, Brooke) Braxton and Aidan, along with many more nieces, nephews and life long friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kim Sevey; mother-in-law, Angel Manafort; and nephew, Thomas Lomax. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. in the Afton Tabernacle. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an account at Wells Fargo under Debra Furlong's name.
