James Albert (Jim) Shawver passed away April 20th, 2016, at the age of 84 on his morning walk at his home at Star Valley Ranch, Wyoming. He was born April 3, 1932 to Elsie Boone and Albert Shawver in Boise, Idaho. Jim grew up in the McCall Idaho area and graduated in Wilder, Idaho. After graduation he joined the Air Force and was an aircraft mechanic for 6 years in the Korean War. After the service he went to the University of Idaho where he got a Bachelor's degree. Jim then married the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Shirley Shawver, in Boise Idaho. Shortly afterwards Jim and Shirley moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho where he worked as a surveyor at the INEL before moving into project management, where he spent 33 years working with various contractors. In Idaho Falls Jim was active in the community as a member of the Idaho Falls Masons and the First Presbyterian Church of Idaho Falls. He made his home in Thayne Wyoming after he retired, living in the family vacation home that the family constructed going back to the 1970's. Jim stood out as a generous man with integrity, and his family, friends, and community will miss him. He enjoyed the outdoors, wildlife, golfing and skiing and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife, 4 children (Vincent and wife Sue Shawver; Susan and husband John Janson; Scott and wife Mary Shawver; Wendell and wife Adrian Shawver), 8 grandchildren (Sara, Chris, Amy, Sean, Amber, Jillian, Sonya, and James) and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Louise Bears and Chet Shawver, daughter Kathleen Jorgenson, grandson Jacob Jorgenson and great granddaughter Christin Shawver. There will be a Memorial service held June 4th at 3:00 PM in the Schwab Funeral Chapel in Thayne Wyoming located on Highway 89 Jeperson subdivision, Thayne, WY 83127. There will also be a Graveside service held June 18th at 3:00 PM in McCall, Idaho. The location will be later announced by the family.
