Harold "Sarge" Rumbaugh passed on to our Heavenly Farther at 5 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013. He was born Aug. 10, 1930. At the age of four, he was adopted by Clarence and Lola Rumbaugh and lived on a Kansas farm. Sarge spent 20 years in the Army. When he retired from his military service, Sarge drove cross country in semi trucks and tour buses. He traveled a lot of the world during his military career. Sarge was Commander of the Alpine American Legion Post 46, which he started, for 12 years. Sarge loved his family, the American Legion, the people in Star Valley and Star Valley itself. Most of all he loved his wife of 29 years, Beulah Rumbaugh. He never had any children of his own but he had two stepsons, Ken Jorgensen (deceased) and Don Jorgensen that he thought of as his own and loved them as his own. He also loved his adopted families, the Titensors, the Jorgensens, the Woodens, the Weeks and the Balls. Sarge accomplished a lot for Alpine. He put together the first Alpine Parade, built a baseball field and made sure that Alpine had their flags. He was also involved in a wide variety of civic duties. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lola Rumbaugh; Harold and Lena Titensor; Ken Jorgensen; and his siblings. Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 24 at 2 p.m. in the Donn Wooden Civic Center in Alpine. Burial will take place in the Amesville Cemetery following the services.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the family or the Huntsman Cancer Center in Harold Rumbaugh's name. We all will surely miss Sarge and all that he did. He is at peace now.
