Gloria Divine Hintze's Obituary

Gloria Divine Hintze passed away surrounded by her family at her home February 9, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.  She was born May 14, 1948 in Murray, Utah to Jack Linden Divine and Lugene Bailey Divine.  Her siblings include: Jackie Divine Burk (Deceased), Rena Divine (Terry) Stroud, Mark Ryan Divine, Cheryl Divine and Scott Kim Divine.

Gloria grew up in Murray and attended Arlington Elementary, Hill Crest Jr. High and Murray High (class of 1966).  She attended the University of Utah for one year and BYU for 2 ½ years graduating in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in Micro Biology and Chemistry.  She then began her career in Medical Technology at Primary Children's Hospital, St. Mark's Hospital and ARUP in Salt Lake.  In 1983 she accepted employment at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh Saudi Arabia until 1986.  This position allowed her the opportunity to travel to Asia and Africa on her paid vacations.  She then returned to ARUP until her retirement in 1994.

While in Saudi Arabia, she met Haywood Pyle and they were married for a short period.  In April 1989, she met Raymond Hintze on a blind date and that relationship flourished and they were married in the Jordan River Temple 3 months after their first date on June 23, 1989.  She became the instant step mom to Ray's two children, Jeffrey Ross Hintze and Lynda Ann Hintze (now Gertson).

On May 8, 1990, their first child Russell was born.  He is the joy of their lives even with his down syndrome.  In order to provide health insurance for Utah Attorney General's Office, the family resided in Sandy, Utah.  After Ray's retirement in January 2010, they moved to their new custom retirement home in Bedford, Wyoming.

The family loved life in rural Wyoming and they enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, ATV riding and camping in their 5th wheel trailer.  During the last three winters, they spent three months in St. George, Utah doing the same outdoor things they loved.

Gloria was blessed with a beautiful gift of music on the piano and organ.  She served as the ward organist beginning in high school and held that position in every ward until her death.  She was an active member of the church and served in many positions in Relief Society, Primary, and Sunday school.  She also served as a ward family history consultant and finished her church service with her husband for three years as ordinance workers in the Star Valley Temple.   She was truly loved by all with whom she associated.

Funeral services will be held at the Thayne LDS Chapel located on Dana Street (one block east of Maverick) in Thayne, Wyoming at 12:00 noon, Thursday, February 18th.  A viewing will be held at the same chapel on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and one hour before the funeral.
