Glen Hyde was born on a bitter-cold morning in a small cabin in Auburn, WY, on January 23, 1939. He was the sixth child of Carlyle and Leona Hyde and was later joined by three more brothers. His childhood was filled with fond memories of working and playing hard together as a family. He broke and rode horses, drove the "poppin' John Deere" tractor, put up hay in the meadow, and ate fresh, cold pea soup in the shade of the willows. He spent hours fishing in a branch of Salt River and swimming with cousins at Sulphur Springs. Each summer, the family vacationed by packing their camp into Murphy Lake, where they spent the week fishing, building log rafts, and enjoying time together.

Glen attended Auburn Elementary through eighth grade and later graduated from Star Valley High School. He spent his teenage years with good friends, "traveling and sluffing school and water skiing and fishing." They often attended dances in Montpelier and would strap down the car's springs so they "could take the corners better" and get there faster.

He worked for Fish and Game during high school and the following year, becoming a deputy warden. Glen served for two years in the United States Army as a helicopter mechanic before returning home to help his father with the family farm.

Glen met Gayle Hebdon on a blind date, and they were married on February 29, 1964. They began their life in Afton, WY, navigating life's joys and sorrows with a shared commitment to work and sacrifice for their family. During their early years, they lived in Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah while Glen worked a variety of jobs, including carpentry, mechanical repair, heavy equipment operation, and commercial semi-driving. He mastered the skills that enabled him to do anything he set his mind to. Notable projects included building an addition and remodeling their home, maintaining and repairing vehicles, building fly-fishing rods and rebuilding his son's 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner with his family.

Glen loved his family fiercely. He and Gayle had four children: Gary (Pam), Mike (Tina), Kent, and Cally (Aaron); 10 grandchildren: Jake (Shaylie), Skyver, Statler, Austin (Hillary), Evan, Adam, Karadan (Aiden), Andrew (Marilyn), Seth (Kamrin), and Will; and nine great-grandchildren. His life was devoted to providing for them and was filled with sacrifice, quiet patience, and tender, unconditional love.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents and six of his siblings: Doyle, Lois, Jerry, LuWanna, Arden, and Don. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kent; his grandson, Statler; and a great-grandson, Easton. He is survived by two siblings, Blaine and VerDean.

Glen completed his Earthly journey on February 7, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love, and sacrifice. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, at the Thayne LDS chapel. A viewing will precede the service at 10:00 a.m.
