Garth White Allred, left this earth life on October 12, 2014 at the age of 91. Garth spent the last years of his life in the Red Cliffs Health and Rehab center in St. George, Utah. He was always deeply grateful for the good people who cared for him there and for the wonderful meals. Garth was born June 6, 1923 in Fairview, Wyoming to Elden Pratt Allred and Amy Leola (White) Allred. There will be a happy reunion on the other side as Garth greets his beloved parents, older brothers, and many other relatives and friends who mean so much to him. Little did Garth realize when he was drafted at the age of 19 that he would be honored today as a World War II veteran. Garth's experiences in life were many and varied. He won his first dance competition at the age of 5 and enjoyed dancing for many years thereafter. He also enjoyed playing the piano and singing. He sang with the LDS Tabernacle Choir and the St. George Heritage Choir. He graduated from BYU with a Masters Degree in German Literature and a Minor in French. As a school teacher he taught at Star Valley High, Lehi High, BYU High, Bountiful High and Woods Cross High. Garth served an LDS mission in Switzerland. The Bern Temple was just about to begin construction as he arrived on his mission. When the temple was completed, Garth was called to serve as Temple Recorder and to help the Temple President schedule sessions for surrounding European countries. His language skills proved to be very helpful in this endeavor. Garth was preceded in death by his parents and his older brothers Morrell, Enid and Bryce Allred. He is survived by his two younger brothers, Kaye (Betty) Allred and Val Dee ( Genevieve ) Allred and his beloved sister, Loa Burgon. Funeral services will be held at the Schwab Mortuary in Afton, Wyoming: Saturday, October 18 at 10 a.m. with a visitation from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Fairview, Wyoming Cemetery.
