Dru Astle, 56, passed away on February 23, 2017. Dru was born in Afton, Wyoming to Mary Lynn (Chapman) Linderman and Conn Astle on April 29, 1960. Who both survive him.
Dru was loved by the community, his friends, and his family. Dru married the light of his life and soulmate, Karen Gomm Astle in November 23, 2011. Dru was previously married to Patty Wooden May 16, 1986. They had a son, Brayton (Courtney) Astle on September 9, 1987. Dru also had a stepson, Cody Rolan (Alyssa) in Heppner, Oregon. His 5 grandchildren adored their always-happy grandfather: Parker Rolan, McKenna Astle, Jordyn Rolan, Benton Astle, and Eloise Rolan.
He is also survived by his stepmother Betty Astle and brothers and sisters: Jay Astle, Rex Astle, Doug Clark, Christine Astle, Sandy Peavler, and Cheryl Bryngelson. His younger brother Rick Leathers proceeded his death in 2003. Dru also had many other nephews and nieces who loved him dearly.
Dru's friendship and kindness to all people is a tribute to his big heart and big laugh. He famously remembered everyone's birthday with a call, song, or hug. He also rarely missed watching the Denver Broncos with Karen, friends, and family. His friends and community will miss being greeted by Dru with his signature peace sign.
He was not afraid of hard work. He managed a crusher at Kilroy's before transferring to Simplot where he ran a crusher and drove truck. He had pride in his company and greatly appreciated his co-workers.
Dru followed in his father's footsteps and contributed many dedicated years as a member of the Afton Volunteer Fire Department. He began volunteering in 1987 until 2004 when he became their biggest cheerleader and drove the bus to convention.
A Celebration of Life rejoicing Dru's life will be conducted by Bishop Simpson on March 1 at 1pm at the Afton 3rd-4th LDS Chapel. Visitation will be held at 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM in the church.
Graveside services will immediately follow the memorial at the Afton Cemetery. Dru will be honored by the Afton Volunteer Fire Department.
Arrangements are being handled by Schwab Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions towards the funeral can be made to the Bank of Star Valley (Dru Astle).
