Delaine
Jenkins
January 23, 1948 – December 28, 2025
Delaine was born Jan. 23, 1948 in Afton, WY to Dean Bedford and Elaine Durrant Jenkins. She brought much joy to this young couple but as time passed it became apparent that her progression wasn't normal. At the age of 2 she went to California with her grandparents, Elmo and Eva Durrant to see medical specialists and determine why she wasn't progressing. She stayed there 2 years and no diagnosis was ever determined. The only thing they were told was she probably wouldn't live past 7 years of age.
At the age of 10 mom and dad were encouraged to visit the Wyoming State Training School in Lander, WY to see if she would benefit from living there with 24 hour care. After a heart wrenching decision mom and dad decided that leaving her there with the care she would receive would be the best for her.
Thanks to the wonderful staff at the now Wyoming Life Resource Center Delaine lived a full life and after 77 years her body finally stopped fighting on Dec 28, 2025. Delaine is preceded in death by her parents, Dean Bedford and Elaine Durrant Jenkins. A great nephew Mick Squires and great niece, Paisley Pulsipher. She is survived by her sisters Melanie (Rick) Eldredge, Helena, MT, Maridene (Scott) Wiberg, Layton , UT, Sirena (Tom) Higgs, Kaysville, UT and brothers Nolan (Trudy) Jenkins, Blackfoot, ID and Wynn (Loretta) Jenkins, Logan, UT and many nieces and nephews.
As a family we would like to thank the staff at The Wyoming Life Resource Center for the many years of care given to Delaine, you made her life the best it could be in the condition she was in.
Thank you
