Claron Gardner Gibbons's Obituary

Claron G. Gibbons, 88, passed away February 26, 2018 in Logan, Utah. She was born December 8, 1929 in Afton, Wyoming to Wallace Ivan and Gladys Bennion Gardner. She was the sixth of ten children. Raised on a ranch in Afton, Claron learned a strong work ethic which continued throughout her life. Education was important to Claron. She attended Utah State University. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English. She continued her education at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina where she earned a Master's degree in Library Science. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the Lord and she loved her missionaries. In addition to her own children, she has helped support 17 missionary grandchildren and is currently supporting a grandson as he serves in Mexico. She had several callings in the church, which very often involved leading the music, which she loved. She worked as a deputy clerk at the Cache County Clerk's office for many years. After she retired, Claron loved to work in the Logan Temple and did so as long as she was able. Throughout her life, Claron loved taking pictures and memorializing events in her scrapbooks. Her children can't count the number of times they had to pile out of the car to stand by a road sign and have their picture taken. Every family gathering involved taking pictures of family groups and individuals. Her scrapbooks were her pride and joy. She loved reading and she always had a stack of books at hand. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, too, and she loved doing the Jumbles in the newspaper. Until her arthritis made working with her hands impossible, Claron was an amazing seamstress. She created the most beautiful quilts and baby blankets for her children and grandchildren. She could hem a pair of pants or bind a quilt by hand so expertly that you couldn't see the stitches. Her knitting and crocheting skills are unmatched. She loved to travel, and she collected souvenir spoons. She had spoons from all of the 50 states and many countries around the world. If Claron was working in her yard, she was happy. She was known for her beautiful flower beds and her large garden and fruit trees. She could often be found by the irrigation ditch coaxing the water uphill or in her raspberry patch pulling weeds-she didn't mind the thorns and she loved the bees! Rain or shine, there was always yard work to be done. Claron leaves behind 7 children: Ann (Greg) Widmer, Wallace (Roxanne Hansen) Gibbons, Lorrain (Richard) Harris, Ronda (Dave) Kershisnik, Kenneth (Lucy Hardman) Gibbons, Carolyn (Garrett) Martell, and Marie (Gordon) Dahle, as well as 29 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way), 2 great-great-grandchildren, her sister, Gladys Gardner, and 2 sisters-in-law, Gayle and Shirley Gardner. She was preceded in death by her parents, 8 of her siblings, and 2 grandsons, NickEllis Dahle and Mark Harris. Our family would like to thank Mom's many dear friends and neighbors who have helped her over the years. We would also like to thank Mom's many caregivers for their loving and gentle care. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m. in Afton, Wyoming.

Funeral: Saturday March 03, 2018 11:00 AM
