Charles J Crook passed away at the Star Valley Care Center Wednesday morning May 28, 2014.
Charles Joshua Crook; born 13 December 1916 in Smoot, Lincoln, Wyoming to Joshua Lane and Eliza May Peterson Crook. He was the third of 6 children. raised in Etna, Wyoming with his 5 brothers and 1 sister. He married Eva Petersen on 4 January 1938 and left for a mission to the southern states on the 28 of January the same year. After a successful mission he returned home and begin his life a husband and farmer. They had 4 sons and 2 daughters ; Paul, Charleen, Sue Ellen, Rodger, Kevan and Brent. Charles spent his time working on his farm and milking cows. In 1950's he went to work on the Palisade Dam. After that he worked for the Forest Service to help support his family. He served in the bishopric in the Smoot Ward. In 1986 his wife, Eva died. In about 1988 he begin going to St. George for the winter. He spent every winter thereafter in the St. George area and summers in Star Valley. He spent his time in St George working in the temple. He said that he went to the Temple 5 times a week and if he wasn't too tired he would do 2 sessions per day. He was also a witness for baptisms. In 2010 he moved to live with his daughter Charleen Bill in Beaver Dam, Arizona. In May of 2012 he was moved into the Star Valley Care Center. Sue Ellen Buckley took care of he needs while he was in the care center. He was there until the time of his death. He is survived by his children: Paul (Nancy) Crook of Smoot, Charleen Bill of Beaver Dam, Arizona, presently serving a mission in Salt Lake City, Sue Ellen (Danny) Buckley of Smoot, Rodger (Dora) Crook of Follett, Texas, Brent Crook of Centerville, Utah, 20 grandchildren and two step grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren 6 step great grandchildren, and 19 great, great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Eva, and son Kevan, son-in-law Edward Bill, grandchildren Tracie Leon Crook, Julia Ann Crook, Gary Dean Bill, and great grandson Brandon Jon Crook.
Viewing will be held Friday evening in Schwab Mortuary from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Viewing before service will be from 10:00 to 10:45 Funeral at will be at 11:00 on Saturday
