Bj Mackenzie passed away quietly in the shadow of the Tetons on October 2, 2015 among family and friends. Bj was born in Yuba City, California on July 15th, 1923 to Claude Arthur and Zelma Wilcox.
Bj called several places home including, Ventura, California; Frankfurt, Germany; Seattle Washington; Sun Valley, Idaho; Alta, Wyoming and Jackson, Wyoming. Bj attended UCLA where she majored in English and Journalism. She worked in equally varying careers from radio disc jockey to stock broker, ski instructor to horse woman. Bj served as one of the first Sun Valley ambassadors, hosting dignitaries and guests around the slopes in Sun Valley, Idaho. Bj had an affinity for watercolor and not only worked to educate and sell the artwork of Carl Roters, but was quite the accomplished watercolorist herself.
Bj loved the outdoors and in her later years enjoyed spending time with her family taking trips into the National Parks and having home cooked breakfasts on the shores of String Lake in Grand Teton National Park.
Bj was preceded in death by her parents (Zelma Wood and Claude Arthur Wilcox), her sons (Bruce K Mackenzie and Gary A Mackenzie). She is survived by her daughter Robin Mackenzie-Nielson (Mike) and sons Dana Mackenzie (Deb) and Steve Hammond (Tammy). Bj has 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Date and location for service and celebration of life to be announced at a later date. A memorial page has been setup at http://www.facebook.com/beejmackenzie. Mortuary services provided by Schwab Mortuary in Afton, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation or the Teton Valley Ski Education Foundation.
