Alvin Leroy Robinson's Obituary

Alvin LeRoy Robinson, age 73, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, March 26, 2016 in Fairview, Wyoming, with his family by his side. Alvin was born in Afton on April 17, 1942, to Alvin Robinson and Thetta Ann Sanderson. He had two older brothers: Keith and Theo and four sisters: Valoy, Vera, lone, and Verna. Later born into the family were Blake and Etta. He spent his childhood years fishing Swift Creek, Clarks Barn, or Crow Creek and wherever he could go on his bike. On the weekends his family would leave Friday night for Greys River and then come home on Sunday Night. They would spend Monday and Tuesday getting bedding cleaned to head up again on Friday. In the winter he would skate for hours at the skating rink in Afton until they kicked him off at night. He loved to go with his Dad to sell machinery, and then they would go fishing after they were done. He loved to go to his Grandpa and Grandma Sanderson's in Freedom, Wyoming in the summer and fish, ride horses, and play with his cousins. He attended schools in Afton, Wyoming. He played the clarinet and was accomplished enough to play with the high school band when he was in the 8th grade. He also played basketball, volleyball and softball and often competed in "All Church Tournaments". He loved scouting and was very proud to make Eagle Scout. He graduated from Star Valley High School in 1962. He started at 7 or 8 years old putting machinery together for his dad at his garage and working with Ted Moffatt at his service station. He worked for Jim Grasse at the fish farm in Auburn. He worked at several service stations when he was in high school. Alvin started dating Alice Perry at Utah State University, and they were married on March 16, 1963, and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with two children, Lisa Lee and Lance P. and were married for 53 years. After graduating from Utah State with a bachelor's degree in accounting he returned to Star Valley and worked as an accountant for Star Valley Swiss Cheese and then went to work for Maverik in the companVs infancy and saw that business grow. He also worked at Christen Industries. What he loved was to start new businesses or renovate theme He started car washes in Afton, Thayne, and Logan and built a convenience store in Afton, built two office buildings, and loved raising cattle and farming. He was a man of many talents and could do anything he set his mind to. He was a member of the Afton Fire Department for 36 years. He belonged to Gephart's basketball team for many years. He was the municipal judge for Afton for 18 years. His church callings included coaching basketball and softball, and he served in the Afton First Ward Bishopric as a financial clerk under 3 different bishops. Alvin was a man of many projects, and they always included his grandchildren. He would pay them to work for him in the summer and this developed a very strong bond between him and his grandchildren. He was a hero to his grandchildren. He loved Greys River. In the last few years, he has been able to spend many summer and fall days there doing what he loved to do: fishing, hunting, four wheeling, camping with his family, and fixing up his place that he owned up Deadman. He was preceded in death by his parents, by two brothers, and by three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Alice Perry Robinson and their children: Lisa Lee (Drue) Hokanson and Lance P. (Melanie) Robinson who both reside in Star Valley. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Chase (Nai) Hokanson of San Diego, CA: Bo Hokanson of Afton: Paxton Hokanson of Logan, Utah: Randi (Michael) Luthi of Pocatello, Idaho: Sydney Robinson of Logan, Utah and Kaden Robinson of Afton. Funeral Services were held on April 2, 2016 at the Afton Wyoming Stake LDS Church. Interment was in the Afton Cemetery.
