Alvera Ann
Charette
July 9, 2014
Alvera Ann Charette, 82, passed away after a long struggle with cancer on Wednesday, July 9th 2014 at her home in Thayne Wyoming. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters helped to carry her through the journey.
Alvera was born on December 6, 1931 in Catawba Wisconsin to her proud parents Ray and Lucille Sorelle.
Alvera was married to the love of her life Raymond Charette on September 9, 1950 in Baraga Michigan. She was working in her Mom and Dad's restaurant, The Roost, when she served up a milk shake to a handsome young sailor… Ray says it was the best milk shake he ever had and it sealed the deal and they started their adventure together 63 years ago.
Alvera loved to be surrounded by family and friends. She was known for her contagious smile, laughter and joking around. She was eager to always lend a helping hand, not expecting anything in return. She spent many hours volunteering at her church, community projects and hospitals. She was involved with camp hosting at various state and federal parks across the country. She was involved with AARP and helped with filling out insurance forms for people. She was an office manager for several doctors offices. She and Ray also owned and operated the Alray Motel in Oak Creek Colorado in the 60s.
She loved the outdoors, camping, hunting and exploring on her travels throughout the country, having visited all but 3 states. Alvera faithfully cared for family and friends through delicious cooking and baking from scratch – including cake decorating and candy making. She loved sewing and crafting of all types but especially crocheting. She also loved dancing, writing, playing cards, telling stories and chatting with friends and family.
Alvera is survived by her husband of 63 years Raymond Charette. Her 3 children and their partners: Joseph Charette and Kim Spangler, Michelle and Gary Rife and Patty and Bruce Fogg. Her 6 grandchildren: Sunny Hintze, Christopher Charette, Jamie Krier, Chelsea Rude, Bobby Fogg and Tina Flory. Her 9 great grandchildren: Jordyn and Ashdyn Charette, Trinitee Lewis, Koen and Kendra Hintz, Marcus and Jeanette Flory and Brooklynn and Becham Fogg. Her 1 great great grandchild: Mason Flory.
Alvera was preceded in death by her mother Lucille Sorelle, her father Ray Sorelle, her sister June Sorelle, her brother Russell Sorelle and 2 grand children Guy Fogg and Dane Fogg.
She was a caring and loving daughter, wife, mother, grandma and the best friend you could have. She was such a gift to us all and will be dearly missed.
